ACTIVITIES – PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
As Brothers of Sigma Beta Rho, we recognize that it is our responsibility to further our ideals of society, brotherhood and remembrance through both acts of social significance and events designed to facilitate communication and interaction. Sigma Beta Rho’s commitment to philanthropy is both well documented and one of the driving principles of our fraternity; to that end, we look to help all individuals of our community, so that we may repay the great debt that we owe to society. Our community service efforts are often executed in collaboration with other student groups on the Boston University campus and in the city of Boston. Our dedication to these ideals is well noted, and, indeed, is what causes Sigma Beta Rho to, quite literally, stand out from among the proverbial crowd.
COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENTS
Although a nascent colony, the Brothers of Sigma Beta Rho have already begun to make an impact on the Boston community. Both Brothers and pledges are encouraged to incorporate a passion for serving others into their everyday lives; this passion is demonstrated through the myriad of service events in which Sigma Beta Rho has played an integral role.
Some of the organizations we have worked with in the past include
- Boston University (BU)
- Northeastern University (NEU)
- BU Multicultural Greek Council (BU MGC)
- Starlight Starbright Childrens foundation of New England
- Project Hunger
- Akshaya Patra
- American Heart Association (AHA)
- The International Rescue Committee (IRC)
- Esplanade Association
- One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)
- Muddy River Clean Up
Sigma Beta Rho actively supports the continual education of Boston University students, participating in the planning and logistical execution of various events put on by various organization on campus.
Sigma Beta Rho recognizes the need for social events to form connections both among fellow Greeks at Boston University and the general population of BU students. Among some of our social activities have been a mixer with the BU Colony of Alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Inc. and annual semester parties. After the establishment of our Northeastern University Colony, we work closely with them thus reaching out to a greater audience. As we continue to make our presence known at Boston University, we look forward to branching out and meeting fellow Greeks and others.
The Honorable Brothers of Sigma Beta Rho are constantly searching for ways to better the community in which we live . If you have any ideas, or are interested in lending a proverbial helping hand, feel free to contact any of the brothers in Boston.
Please note: Our community service events, while organized by brothers, are often attended by family, friends and roommates. If you have the time and are willing to give back, please join us. We look forward to meeting and working with you.
